HP Officejet 200 mobile printer stopped printing black ink. Replaced cartridge with new genuine cartridge #62. Printed test page still no black ink. Did factory reset, cleaned printhead using all three stages 3x, aligned printer, cleaned cartridge electrical contacts, and reseated cartridge multiple times. Still no black ink. Color prints fine. Any ideas?

@Motorman919, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Officejet 200 mobile printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I appreciate the detailed troubleshooting you’ve already done—it sounds like you've covered most of the major steps! Since your color ink is printing fine but black isn’t coming through, let's try a couple more things:

Try a Different Black Cartridge – Even though it’s a new genuine HP 62 cartridge, there’s a small chance it could be faulty. If you have a spare or can get a replacement, it’s worth testing.

Check for Ink Flow Issues – Take a clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel, lightly dampen it with warm water, and gently press it against the nozzle of the black ink cartridge. You should see a solid black ink blot. If not, the ink might not be flowing properly.

Print a Diagnostic Page – On your printer, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Print Quality Report and check if black is missing from the test patterns. If it's faint or absent, the printhead may still be clogged.

Try a Manual Printhead Cleaning – Since you’ve already run the automated cleaning cycles multiple times, you can try manually cleaning the printhead:

  • Remove the cartridges and unplug the printer.
  • Dampen a lint-free cloth with warm distilled water and gently wipe the printhead area.
  • Let it dry for a few minutes before reinserting the cartridges and trying another test print.

If none of these steps work, and since you’ve already done a factory reset, the issue could be a deeper printhead problem. HP OfficeJet 200 printers have a built-in printhead, so if it's clogged beyond recovery, it may need servicing.

Let me know how it goes!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
