Hi,
I’m using an HP Smart Tank 7005 and my printer has completely stopped printing yellow. The yellow ink does not appear on the page at all. I’ve already run the printhead cleaning process three times without any improvement. I also removed the printhead once and cleaned it manually. The other colors are working fine, but yellow is completely missing. I can clearly see that the yellow ink is visibly stuck in the tube and not moving towards the printhead. It looks like the ink is not flowing properly through the system.

Ok, nvm. I repaired it.
I did the following:
- above the printhead case is another smaller case, which u can clip up. I did clip it up and pushed it down nearly 50 times. I also knocked on the tubes multiple times (and the printhead) and now it´s printing yellow again.

@BriefMokoloko, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue where your HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One is not printing yellow, despite multiple cleanings. You've also noticed that the yellow ink appears stuck in the tube and is not reaching the printhead. I’ll be glad to help you resolve this.
Based on your description, this appears to be an ink flow issue, likely due to air bubbles or blockage in the ink supply system. Here are some steps you can try to restore ink flow:
Check Ink Levels
Ensure the yellow ink tank has sufficient ink and is filled above the minimum fill line. If low, refill using original HP ink bottles only.

Prime the Ink System (Manually Re-prime Yellow)
Since the ink seems stuck in the tube:
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Open the printhead access area and gently remove the yellow printhead.
- Carefully inspect the yellow ink tube, if you see air bubbles or the ink is not filling the tube, it may require priming.
- Gently tap the tube with a soft object (like a pencil eraser) to release any bubbles.
- Reinstall the yellow printhead securely.
Perform a Deep Cleaning via Printer Menu
After reinstalling the printhead:
- Go to printer's control panel > Settings > Maintenance.
- Choose Deep Cleaning or Advanced Printhead Cleaning if available.
- Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page after cleaning.
Repeat deep cleaning up to 2 times only. Excessive cleaning can waste ink.
Printhead Recovery Process (if ink still doesn't flow)
If ink still doesn’t flow after cleaning:
- Remove the yellow printhead again.
- Soak just the nozzle area of the yellow printhead in warm distilled water (not tap water) for about 5–10 minutes.
- Gently dab the printhead with a lint-free cloth to remove any dried ink.
- Let it air-dry for 10 minutes, reinstall, and try printing again.
Run "Clean Ink Smear" (Optional)
From printer control panel or HP Smart app:
Navigate to Tools > Clean Ink Smear (this clears any buildup on the bottom plate).
If yellow ink still does not print after all above steps, the yellow ink system may be air-locked or the printhead may be faulty.
In this case, we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.

Hi,
I tried everything except the water thing. Nothing seems to be working. The ink just wont flow through the tube, its nearly empty.
I dont have any distilled water. We have very clean water in germany, could i use the normal tap water?
The nearest HP center ist 300km away from me, its not an option to get there.
