Hi @SA602,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 7300 is not printing black ink even though the ink levels are full and the printheads have been cleaned. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Run Print Quality Check

From the printer control panel, navigate to Setup → Tools → Print Quality Report.

Verify if black ink is actually printing or if there are missing lines.

b. Perform Deep Cleaning

Go to Setup → Tools → Clean Printhead and run the process 2–3 times.

If the problem persists, remove the black ink bottle and gently check for clogs in the printhead area.

c. Check Ink Bottle Installation

Ensure the black ink tank is seated properly and clicks into place.

Verify that the ink tube connecting the bottle to the printhead is secure.

d. Perform a Nozzle Check

Print a Nozzle Check pattern from the printer menu.

Missing lines indicate clogged nozzles rather than empty ink.

e. Try Printing from Another Device

Send a test print from a different computer or mobile device using the HP Smart app.

This helps rule out software or driver issues.

f. Align Printhead

From Setup → Tools → Align Printhead, run the alignment process.

Misaligned printheads can sometimes prevent black ink from printing correctly.

g. Replace Black Ink Bottle (if needed)

If all the above steps fail, the black ink bottle may be defective.

Replace it with a new genuine HP black ink bottle to restore printing functionality.

h. Regular Maintenance Tip

Print a test page periodically to prevent the black ink from drying in the nozzles and causing clogs.

I hope this helps.
