HP Tango

Hi HP team,

I recently moved from the US to Sweden and brought my USA region HP Tango with me.

Now I want to use HP ink cartridges purchased in Sweden in my Tango printer.

Can you please help me with the region reset?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @zoffpotatis,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We need to perform a regional reset on the printer to resolve this issue.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

To perform a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:

1. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

2. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.

3. Make sure HP Smart App is installed too.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

@Kuroi_Kenshi I appreciate the response.

As I mentioned in the PM, the given instructions do not match how the HP Smart app on Windows 11 or macOS operates at the time of writing, for the HP Tango printer.

My experience mirrors exactly what is described by this user about a year ago:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Ink-Cartridges-Print-Quality/Regionalization-Reset-Support/td-...

From what it looks like right now, the entry point to the Set New Regions window is not reachable.

I'd appreciate the feedback from this community if someone knows of a workaround.

Perhaps an older version of the HP Smart software that works better is available for download somewhere?

Hey @zoffpotatis

Thanks for reaching out! Since the issue remains unresolved, I suggest contacting our phone/chat support team for personalized assistance. They can provide one-on-one help and may even be able to work their remote assistance magic to fix the problem.

Note: There might be a nominal charge for the service they provide.

@Garp_senchau With all due respect, I don't think this is a case of needing personalized assistance. This is a general issue of HP having broken the "Set New Regions" functionality for the Tango series in the HP Smart software, as has been reported by other users on these forums.

Please take this issue back to the HP product engineering team so that they can fix the bug in the HP Smart software. I think HP should be motivated to fix this bug for the sake of the circular economy, to prevent HP hardware ending up in a landfill. Thank you!
