Product: HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

Is the HP ENVY 6455e able to use HP XL color and black cartridges, or just regular. I have HP XL cartridges and aftermarket cartridges that will not work. Wondered about the HP XL large that don't work. Could that be because they are older cartridges?
