Hi - I have an HP 7134 printer which was working fine (with non-HP ink) until I installed a new colour cartridge today. I now get the error message "the indicated cartridges have been blocked by the printer firmware because they contain non-HP circuitry."
Browing the noticeboards I see this is a common complaint amongst HP printer owners - but I cannot find instructions on how to roll back to a previous version of the firmware so my printer will work again.
Surely there must be a way to do that? Or do I now have to just bin my printer? Blocking 3rd party ink in this way is outrageous so on point of principle there is no way I will be buying HP ink to fix the problem!
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks

Hi Dragon-Fur - thanks for your reply, although I am afraid I don't quite understand what you are saying.
Are you telling me that HP can just disable my printer whenever they want because they don't like the ink I have bought to use with it? I find that quite remarkable - is that legal?
The printer always used to work - so can I go back to a version of the firmware that works?
Regards

You are welcome.
Apologies - I will try to clarify:
Any information for a firmware rollback that removes the requirement - should such a thing exist - will not be found on this Community.
Yes, in fact, the printer firmware can impact what kind of ink is used in the printer.
I will not embroil myself in any discussion regarding "what's legal".
There is no point -- I do not speak for HP.
My personal opinions do not -- and would not - influence your situation.
