HP Tango printer. Keep getting yellow light error message and not sure how to clear it. I believe it's either a cartridge issue or possible paper jam.

Hi @LeeMorr1978,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The yellow light on your HP Tango printer typically indicates a general error, such as a paper jam, low ink, or a cartridge issue. Here’s how to troubleshoot and resolve it.

Check for Paper Jams

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Open the input tray and carefully check for any jammed paper or debris.
  3. Remove any stuck paper, ensuring there are no small fragments left inside.
  4. Reload paper into the input tray and close it properly.

Check the Ink Cartridges

  1. Turn the printer back on.
  2. Open the ink cartridge access door.
  3. Remove the cartridges and inspect them for:
    • Proper installation.
    • Protective tape still on the cartridge contacts (if they are new cartridges, remove it).
    • Ink levels visible on the HP Smart app or printer software.
  4. If the cartridges seem faulty or are empty, replace them with genuine HP cartridges.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  3. Check if the yellow light error clears.

Use the HP Smart App for Diagnostics

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your device.
  2. Go to Printer Status and check for detailed error messages.
  3. Follow the guided troubleshooting steps provided in the app.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Hold down the Wi-Fi button and the Power button simultaneously for about 10 seconds until the printer restarts.
  2. Reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network if necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
