I recently replaced 2 cartridges with new genuine HP cartridges, but the printer shows they are empty and will not print. Tried rebooting, reinstalling, cleaning contacts and updating firmware but no solution.

Thanks for trying all those troubleshooting steps. You’ve already covered most of the basics. Since the printer still shows the new genuine HP cartridges as empty, we’ll need to check the exact printer model to guide you correctly.

HP has several models under “8100,” such as:

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8100
  • HP Photosmart 8100 Series
  • HP LaserJet Pro 8100 Series

Each model has different cartridge systems and diagnostics.

👉 Could you please confirm the full printer model number (e.g., 8100, 8100e, OfficeJet Pro 8100, etc.)?
If possible, a photo of the label or front panel would help us identify it quickly.

Once we have the model, we can walk you through the correct steps and check if the issue is with the cartridges, firmware, or the ink system itself.
