Single mom here. My kids need to print items for school, but my printer is frozen because it no longer accepts refills cartridges. I CANNOT AFFORD HP CARTRIDGES, let alone another printer!! How do I override the barrier?

edit:

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, especially to those that work for or represent HP, I know it's not your fault. It's just frustrating.

Hi @there,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.

There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it is not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

Hope this helps.

Take care and have a nice day!

The message on my printer says

"The indicated cartridges have been blocked by the printer firmware because they contain a non-HP chip. This printer is intended to work only new or reused HP chip. Replace the indicted cartridges to continue printing"

I replaced the cartridge with another HP refill. I have never had a problem with refills from office max before.

My refill from office max DOES have an HP chip. Is there a way I can override the error message to unfreeze my printer??

Also, I never consented to HP's malware install.

"Moreover, after the update was rolled out, HP made misleading statements to conceal its role and the nature of the update, the lawsuit says. Per the case, users who had installed competing ink and toner cartridges received an error message that merely stated their printers had a “supply problem,” which falsely suggested the third-party cartridges were broken instead of disabled by HP. The case says the update caused the printers to be unusable unless customers discarded the otherwise functional third-party ink and toner cartridges and replaced them with HP-branded supplies" (Classaction.org)

I'm starting a new thread since I'm being ignored in my previous posts. Can an HP rep please contact me and let me know what I need to do to remove the barrier HP unlawfully installed on MY printer that prevents me from using it.  I cannot afford genuine cartridges. Come on HP, be better than that!
