How do I get a refund for a defective ink cartridge that was purchased at a major retailer?

How do I get a refund for a defective ink cartridge purchased at a major retailer that will not credit an opened defective cartridge. The cartridge is new and it caused an error message on my ENVY 120 Series printer.  I replaced it with another new cartridge and that one worked.

Since the defective ink cartridge was purchased from a major retailer, the return and refund policy would be subject to that retailer’s terms. HP does not handle returns or refunds for ink purchased from third parties. However, if the cartridge is an original HP ink product, you may contact HP Support to check if it qualifies for replacement under HP’s limited warranty.

To do this:

1. Visit HP’s Warranty and Replacement page
2. Enter the cartridge details, including serial number, and follow the instructions for warranty claims.

Alternatively, you may wish to escalate the issue with the retailer’s customer service, especially if the cartridge was defective upon opening.
