Welcome to the HP Community --

There might be more than one interpretation of your question.

Three examples are included below...

-------------------------------------------------------

Image Density - Resize / Resample - Pixel Count

Print density might be a result of the pixel count in the original content to be printed.

Increasing the original pixel density is not possible because there is just so much data in the original content.

The pixel count can be changed -- the results might or might not be satisfactory.

You need (for example) photo editing software to manipulate pixel density.

Example - Irfanview (free) - Windows - Resize / Resample

-------------------------------------------------------

Scanning - Resolution / DPI

If you are not printing and instead scanning the content, you can spoof the density by increasing the scan resolution / DPI.

While scanning at a higher DPI cannot increase the pixel density, it can make it appear that more details are pulled from the content.

Scanning at higher resolutions / DPI (or "Max DPI") can produce reasonable results using relatively high-density originals -- the results are far less satisfactory if you scan low density original content (document or photo) at higher resolution / DPI to try and increase non-existent details.

Scanning at higher Resolution / DPI requires that the content be scanned on the flatbed / glass as opposed to the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan - Preset = Photo - Save

-------------------------------------------------------

Print Quality - Draft / Normal / Best

Ink density might be a result of whether you are selecting Draft, Normal, or Best print quality in the job setup.

Draft uses the least amount of ink -- results are suitable for personal use.

Normal uses the "right amount" of ink for most printing, including printing documents and photo content for sending or sharing with others.

Best uses the most ink -- the results might be satisfactory.

OR

Depending on the printer, the content type, the paper, the density, and the amount of color in the original -- "Best" might appear saturated, over bright, or messy.

General Example - HP Smart - Windows - Simple Photo Print - Main menu > More Settings
