Hi @T778,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there could be a couple of issues affecting your HP DeskJet GT 5820 printer's performance. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.
- Check Ink Cartridges: Even if the ink levels appear okay, sometimes cartridges can be faulty or have issues with the nozzles. Try removing the cartridges, checking them for any visible issues, and reinserting them securely.
- Clean Print Heads: Print heads can get clogged, especially if the printer hasn't been used for some time or if the environment is dusty. Most printers have a utility in the settings menu that allows you to clean the print heads. Run this utility to see if it improves print quality.
- Align Print Heads: Sometimes, aligning the print heads can resolve issues with color dominance or faded prints. Look for the print head alignment option in your printer's settings and follow the instructions provided.
- Print Quality Settings: Ensure that your print settings are appropriate for the type of document you are printing. Sometimes, setting the print quality to a higher setting can improve color reproduction.
- Update Printer Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. You can usually find the latest drivers on HP's official website under the support section for your specific printer model.
- Inspect Paper and Settings: Check if the paper you're using is compatible with your printer and that it's loaded correctly. Incorrect paper settings can sometimes affect print quality.
- Reset Printer: If none of the above steps work, consider resetting your printer to its factory defaults. This can often resolve software-related issues that may be affecting print quality.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
