@Zenmasterwest, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Envy 4512!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP Envy 4512 printer is displaying an "Incompatible Cartridges" message even after installing new HP cartridges, try these troubleshooting steps:
1. Check Cartridge Compatibility
- Ensure that you are using genuine HP 63 (Black or Tri-color) cartridges.
- If unsure, check the cartridge model number on the packaging or HP's website.
2. Reset the Printer
- With the printer ON, unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Turn the printer ON and check if the issue persists.
3. Clean Cartridge Contacts
- Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door.
- Remove the ink cartridges carefully.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper-colored contacts.
- Let them dry for a few minutes, then reinsert them securely.
4. Reinstall the Cartridges Properly
- Turn on the printer and open the cartridge door.
- Remove and reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.
5. Update Printer Firmware
- Go to HP Support and check for the latest firmware updates.
- Install the update using HP Smart or HP Printer Assistant.
