Hello,
I have a deskjet 2540 that I barely used after buying new a few years back. Now I am trying to clean it up and restore for a friend, since I now have another printer. However, it won't accept the black cartridge replacement. The color seems ok, but I tried a couple of carts for black, the smaller HP61 and the HP61XL , nothing wrong with the cartridges as they work fine on my HP Envy 4500. There is no cartridge protection enabled on either printer.
I tried the old advice to unplug and holding down the power on key for 15 seconds, didn't work. itried cleaning out the contacts. I updated the firmware to the latest. Nothing seems to work. still same message and blinking drop light.
Messages shown on webpage is "Black Cartridge: Not Intended for Use in Current Device"
Again these are genuine HP 61, XL black cartridges.
Any ideas?
