I tipped my hp 6600 printer forward after removing cartridges during a move, and it leaked. Can I still use it, and how do I clean it? I don't want to install new cartridges of it is ruined.

Hi @AmyBMM,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 6600 is leaking ink after being tipped without cartridges during a move, here are some steps you can take to address the issue.

Safety First: Before you start, make sure you're working in an area that's easy to clean up, as ink can be messy. Also, wear disposable gloves to protect your hands from ink stains.

Inspect the Printer: Examine the printer carefully to identify where the ink is leaking from. It could be from the printhead or the ink cartridge area.

Clean the Printer: Carefully clean any spilled ink from inside the printer. Use a lint-free cloth or paper towels for this purpose. Be gentle to avoid causing further damage.

Check the Cartridges: Inspect your ink cartridges to ensure they are not damaged or leaking. If they are damaged, replace them.

Printhead Cleaning: If the ink is leaking from the printhead, try cleaning it. Most printers have a built-in printhead cleaning function. Consult your printer's manual for instructions on how to run this cleaning cycle.

Check for Damaged Parts: Look for any damaged parts inside the printer, such as broken or cracked ink delivery tubes or connectors. If you find any damaged parts, you may need to replace them.

Reinstall Cartridges: If the ink leakage was caused by not having cartridges in the printer during the move, reinstall the ink cartridges properly. Make sure they are securely seated in their respective slots.

Test the Printer: After cleaning and reinserting the cartridges, run a test print to see if the issue is resolved. If you still notice leaking, you may need to contact HP customer support or a technician for further assistance.

Prevent Future Leaks: To prevent future ink leaks during moves or transportation, it's essential to securely tape or seal the ink cartridges in place before moving the printer. Follow the printer's user manual for guidance on preparing it for transportation.

Remember that ink can be difficult to clean up, so take your time and be cautious when handling the printer and cartridges. If the issue persists after following these steps,

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
