I am getting a message that there is a problem with the supply system. Is there a work around? I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 all in one printer.

Hi @KRH12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the “problem with the supply system” message on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Reset the Printer (Power Reset)

Turn on the printer if it’s off.

With it on, unplug both the power cord and the wall plug.

Wait 60 seconds. (Give it a little breather 💆‍♂️)

Plug it back in and turn it on.

This clears error states in many HP printers.

Reinstall the Ink Cartridges

Open the cartridge access door.

Gently remove all cartridges.

While they’re out:

Check the contacts (the copper/gold chip area) for ink residue or damage.

Wipe gently with a lint-free cloth or soft microfiber slightly dampened with distilled water.

Reinsert each cartridge one at a time until it clicks into place.

Check Cartridge Authenticity

HP printers can reject non-HP or refilled cartridges, especially after firmware updates.

If you’re using genuine HP ink, confirm via the HP Smart app or go to the printer’s touchscreen > Ink Info.

If you’re using third-party ink and getting this error:

It might not be a hardware issue, HP locks down some features for non-genuine cartridges.

Update Firmware

Sometimes HP releases patches for supply system glitches.

Go to support.hp.com.

Search “HP OfficeJet Pro 8710” and go to Drivers & Software.

Download any firmware update utility available.

I hope this helps.
