8020e Printer will not print in black ink. I've cleaned the printheads and ran the Align the Printhead maintenance. I printed the test and alignment pages but the test page will not print properly, so the printer can't read the test page. I've run through all the listed fixes and the full black ink cartridge will not work. Thanks in advance.

Hi @RetiredUSAF,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is having a severe black ink issue that is preventing proper printhead alignment. Since you've already tried cleaning the printheads and running the alignment maintenance, here are some additional steps to try.
Perform a Second Deep Printhead Cleaning
- Go to your printer’s Settings → Printer Maintenance → Clean Printhead.
- If the first cleaning didn’t work, run it two more times. Sometimes, deeper cleaning cycles clear clogged nozzles.
Manually Clean the Printhead
If automatic cleaning doesn’t help, try this:
- Remove the black ink cartridge.
- Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water.
- Gently clean the printhead where the ink comes out.
- Dry it with a clean, dry cloth and reinsert the cartridge.
Try a Different Ink Cartridge
Even though your black cartridge is full, it may be faulty. If you have a spare or can borrow one, try using a different HP genuine black cartridge.
Perform a Power Reset
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
- Wait 5-10 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Retry printing a test page.
Bypass the Printhead Alignment
Since alignment depends on reading the test page, try skipping it:
- Go to Settings → Printer Maintenance → Align Printhead and cancel when it asks to scan.
- See if the printer will now allow you to print normally.
Check for Firmware Updates
- On the printer screen, go to Settings → Printer Updates → Check for Updates.
- If an update is available, install it and restart the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
