Hello,
I just subscribed to Instant Ink and when I try to connect my home printer (HP Office Jet Pro 8720) to the Instant Ink in the HP Smart app I on my iPhone (iOS 17.3.1) I am unable to finalise the installation. I followed the instructions as indicated here (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_3259776-1993270-16).
The connection could not be done automatically, so it requires me to print a code by clicking on the ePrint button on the printer itself. The printer prints a page, but without any code (just an email). The app blocks there so I am unable to go to the next step.
I saw there is a post about exactly the same issue which was finally solved privately (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Ink-Cartridges-Print-Quality/I-can-t-get-my-printer-code-for-i...), in a parallel conversation.
Could anyone help please?
Thank you !
GabiLux

Hi @GabiLux,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble getting your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 printer connected to Instant Ink through the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
Here are a few steps you can try:
1. Restart everything:
- Turn off your printer and iPhone, wait for a minute, and then turn them both back on.
- Close and reopen the HP Smart app.
2. Check the ePrint settings:
- On your printer, navigate to the "Web Services" menu and then "ePrint."
- Make sure ePrint is enabled and that your printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
- You can try disabling and then re-enabling ePrint to see if it helps.
3. Reinstall the HP Smart app:
- Delete the HP Smart app from your iPhone.
- Download and reinstall the latest version from the App Store.
- Log in to your HP account and try connecting your printer again.
4. Print the code manually:
- If the app still doesn't show a code, try printing it manually.
- Visit the HP Instant Ink website: [invalid URL removed]
- Log in to your account and go to "Manage printers."
- Select your printer and click on "Instant Ink setup."
- Click on "Get code" and follow the instructions on the screen to print the code.
- Once you have the code, enter it manually in the HP Smart app.

Hi Gaya1239,
THANK YOU so much for your help !!!
Solution 2 worked. I disabled and re-enabled ePrint from the printer screen and could immediately print the code. It also changed the email address, and funny enough, the code is exactly the same as the first part of the email address (the chain of characters and numbers before the @).
Definitely I thumb you up !
Have a nice rest of the day.
