HP OfficeJet Pro 8600, Product Number CM 749A, Model Number N911a. HP Cartridges 951 (have used repeatedly before).
I followed the instructions in the HP Smart self-help section for printer cartridge errors, including replacing the cartridge with a new one and then resetting the printer. The warning is still there: "One or more cartridges appear to be damaged. (C) Remove them and replace with new cartridges." I think the equipment that houses the cartridges may be damaged. The nearest authorized repair service is a Best Buy. I will call tomorrow to see if they even work on printers, the description appears to suggest not. All suggestions welcome!

Hi @keg1950,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see there is an ongoing issue with the cartridges. Since the issue is not resolved after replacing the faulty cartridges. I suspect it to be a printer hardware issue.
Due to limited support, I would request you contact our HP Support and our Support Engineers should be able to sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link.
Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance.
Have a great day!

I tried the link you gave and got the same circle of auto-response that I have seen before. Am I missing something in that loop? You mention limited support. I am confident now that the issue is in the hardware. Would the Best Buy (Palm Desert, CA) be the best source for diagnostics?
