HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer

In my printer used 63 Istant ink cartiage. They send my 63-302 instant ink cartiage. I installed it backwards. Now I can not get this caritageout of the ink assembly. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi @Smokey911

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for explaining the situation—I'm really sorry you're dealing with this. It’s understandably stressful when a simple installation turns into a jammed cartridge, and I want to help you resolve it safely.

Here’s what you can try to gently remove the misinstalled cartridge from your HP OfficeJet 3830:

Steps to Remove a Backward-Installed Cartridge

Power Off and Unplug the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall. This ensures safety and prevents the carriage from moving unexpectedly.

Open the Cartridge Access Door

  • Lift the access door and wait for the carriage to stop moving before proceeding.

Use Gentle Pressure

  • Try to grip the cartridge from both sides using your fingers or a soft, non-metallic tool like a plastic spudger.
  • Apply slow, steady pressure to pull the cartridge outward. Avoid twisting or forcing it, as this could damage the carriage.

Inspect for Locking Tabs or Guides

  • Some cartridges may catch on internal tabs. Use a flashlight to inspect the area and gently maneuver the cartridge around any obstructions.

Try Tilting the Cartridge

  • If the cartridge is wedged in at an angle, gently tilt it upward or downward while pulling to help release it.

Avoid Using Metal Tools

  • Metal tools can scratch or damage the ink assembly. Stick to plastic or rubber-tipped tools if needed.

If the cartridge remains stuck, you may need to remove the other cartridge to gain better access or visibility. Once removed, inspect the cartridge for any damage before reinstalling correctly.
