HP Color LaserJet CP1215 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I own an HP color laserjet 1215 printer and I need to clean the print heads. I know that a toolbox existed in the past that would run a head cleaning program.  However, I cannot find it in windows 10. Any tested suggestions for cleaning the print heads?

@DavidandDonna, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

For the HP Color LaserJet 1215 printer, you can follow these steps to clean the print heads manually:

Access the Printer Toolbox:

  • The toolbox that allows you to run the print head cleaning program may not be readily visible in Windows 10.
  • Verify that you have the latest printer software and drivers installed from the HP website.

Manual Cleaning Procedure:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source to ensure safety.
  • Open the printer and locate the print heads. Refer to the printer manual for detailed instructions on how to access the print heads.
  • Remove the print heads carefully. Make sure to handle them gently to avoid damage.
  • Clean the print heads:
    • Use lint-free cloths slightly moistened with distilled water.
    • Gently wipe the printhead surfaces. Do not use any harsh chemicals or isopropyl alcohol directly on the printheads, as it could cause damage.
    • If the printheads are heavily clogged, avoid applying excessive pressure. Instead, soak the cloth in distilled water and gently pat the printhead.

I suggest you refer to the user guide for detailed steps: HP Color LaserJet CP1210 Series - User Guide

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
