Imposible to print from all macs... (Postcript warning)

HP Recommended
Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hello,

In our office all the Mac's have issues with printing.

The printer is installed via Airprint & tried secure airprint.

I used the HP smart software...but didn't help.

When i try to print a mail, i now get only an error printed:

POSTSCRIPT Warning

Subsystem: PARSER

Warning: InternalError 00

File Name: PDFSender_Interp.c

Line Number: 1789

Error Information: Reported by PDL underfinedfilename

Please help me... because we are almost at a point where we want to throw out an almost new printer...

@Bravoure, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

  • What happens when you print from other applications?
  • How is the printer connected, USB/Wireless?
  • Are you able to make photocopies on the printer?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

They thing that seems to print is a PFD file.

The printer is connected to ethernet, and we tried wifi as well.

Copy works fine

If you're trying to print a PDF document try printing it as an image. Refer to the document https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/quick-fix-print-pdf-image.html for help(This is a third-party link. Please do not click on any ad, image, download, popup or link or anywhere else as this is a third-party link meant only for viewing information).

Also, ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

Check the settings before you send the print job. Refer to the document HP Printers - Print Settings Guide (Mac) for help.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for replying!

Resetting the printing system removes all printers and scanners from the printers queue and clears all print jobs and print settings from the system, including printers and scanners that are not from HP. Resetting the printing system can be useful for troubleshooting printing problems, but you need to add all of your printers and scanners back to the list when you are finished.

  1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

  2. Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.

  3. Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.

Figure : Clicking Reset printing system

    Image: Click Reset printing system
  4. Click Reset or OK.

  5. If prompted, type your username and password, and then click OK.

    The printing system resets.

  6. Turn off the printer, wait 5 seconds, and then turn on the printer.

  7. Wait until the printer is idle and silent.

  8. In the Printers window on the Mac, click the Add button

  9. Select your printer from the list, and then click Add.

It might take a few seconds before your printer displays in the Printers list.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

I did what you asked.

I'm able to print directly form Chrome & Adobe Acrobat.

But default Mac OS aps  like Mail & Preview, don't print. 😞

Hope that can be solved as well.

Does the lack of response means there is no solution?? And thus a confirmation that the printer is a piece of $%^&*?

@Bravoure

Thanks for waiting.

For now, you can try printing using the Acrobat Application or try the steps below-

Remove and add the printer

Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.

Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign, and then delete the printer.

Select printer and click the minus sign

Click the Plus sign, and then click Add Printer or Scanner.

Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Try to print.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
