We have aHP OfficeJet Pro 8730 printer.

We've recently moved to the US with the printer, we'e ordered ink locally in the US (Cartridge 952XL) and it won't work in our printer as it says we should use 953XL,

I've been led to believe that the region on the printer needs to be updated, but this is only something HP can do?

Please advise.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

 

I will be more than happy to help you out here.

 

To perform a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:

 

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
4. Make sure HP Smart App is installed too.

Our printer setup meets all of the conditions you mention. How do we perform the reset then?

What is the current OS you're using?

 

The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. 

 

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
