Seems I also now have the "Incompatible Cartridges" error.
Got it immediately after replacing the ink with new HP ink. Have followed all the guides on HP site - i.e. resetting printer, cleaning heads, etc. Nothing works - but that seems to be the pattern from everything I can tell online....
Any suggestions before I throw hundreds of $s towards another (non-HP) printer?

Hi @nomore_H_P,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Dealing with "Incompatible Cartridges" errors on HP printers can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue before considering a new printer. Here are some suggestions.
- Verify Genuine HP Cartridges: Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges may not be recognized by the printer.
- Check Cartridge Compatibility: Make sure the cartridges you are using are compatible with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8718. Check the printer's manual or the HP website for a list of compatible cartridges.
- Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door. Gently remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth. Reinstall the cartridges and close the door.
- Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
- Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in, turn it on, and see if the error persists.
- Manually Override the Error (Temporary Solution): Some users have reported success by manually overriding the error. This involves acknowledging the error message on the printer's display and continuing with the printing process. Keep in mind that this might only be a temporary solution.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
