HP LaserJet Pro M15w Printer
macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hello, I bought HP LaserJet M15W in the UK, which it used 44A cartridges in the UK. However, now I moved in Taiwan, which M15W uses 48A cartridges in Taiwan and I am only able to buy 48A cartridges here.

My printer keeps showing 'incompatible toner' after I tried to put in a 48A HP original cartridge and it doesn't allow me to print, and there is no way I can buy 44A cartridges in Taiwan.

I saw another post very similar to my issue and it was solved properly. Therefore, I would appreciate that you could let me know how to do NVRAM reset to let me use the printer properly?

Thank you very much for helping.

Hello,

Thank you for answering.

I have contacted the local HP customer centre, and they told me that there is no way to reset the region for the printer. If I want to be able to use this printer in Taiwan then I had to take the printer to a local store to change the motherboard of the printer and it costs around US$50 (which is like half of the price I paid for buying the printer).

This is a very disappointing reply to me.

Hopefully there is someone in this community who could help me use a 48A cartridge in UK-made HP LaserJet M15W. Otherwise, the printer include a brand new 48A cartridge will be a waste, which unfortunately is not environmental-friendly at all...

FACTORY RESET the printer

Follow the steps

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/Factory-Reset-needed-LaserJet-Pro-M15W/...

connect your printer to a computer/laptop by usb cable.

install the software, Full_Webpack-46.3.2642-LJM14-M17_UWL_Full_Webpack.exe

step by step, when it almost finishs the setting,

it will ask you to setup the region and language.

choose Taiwan in region. (in your case)

when the setup is done you can check the status of your printer by http://[your_printer_ip_address]

48A Cartridge should be shown normally

I had the same problem this morning and figured it out myself.

Hello Jacksan,

Thank you so much for sharing such helpful information.

Unfortunately I don't have a 48A cartridge to test these steps at the moment.

I think it will work, will order another 48A again to give it a try and come back to confirm whether it works or not.

Best wishes
