I bought the Deskjet 2700 about 4 months ago on Amazon, everything was fine until it was time to change both ink cartridges. I used new HP 67 B&W and HP 67 tricolor cartridges. The new B&W cartridge had no problems. The Tricolor cartridge keep giving me :
"Only one set of HP Insta Ink Ready cartridges can be used in a printer. Remove and replace with other cartridges"
I haven't subscribed to Insta Ink and I bought the Original HP Ink. The old cartridge works but its empty. What do I do? TIA.

Examine the box the cartridge came in or the label on the cartridge. Does the label indicate the color cartridge is "Instant Ink Ready"?
Instant Ink Ready cartridges are the setup cartridges used in initial setup of the printer. The Instant Ink Ready cartridges are not offered through retail by HP. I would suggest you contact your dealer for a replacement cartridge.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The cartridge box doesn't say anything about Insta Ink. It states "1 Original HP Ink Cartridge" on the side flap, and "Intended for single use only" on the bottom flap of the box.
I'm not certain who to contact... I bought the printer on Amazon.com from a third party vendor.

Hi,
Can you see any label on the ink cartridge label of Setup H or Instant Ink Ready? could you please add a screenshot of your ink cartridge label?
Are these purchased ink cartridges?
Generally, an Instant Ink Ready / Setup cartridges are provided in the printer box and shouldn't be sold separately, therefore please clarify your ink cartridge information, as this might seems the cause from the description.

Please check the lablel on the top of the cartridge If it says "Replace with 67 or 67xl Instant Ink Ready" then it is an Instant Ink Ready [setup] cartridge and should not be sold. Did you buy it from the same seller as your printer? If so you will need to contact that seller for a replacement.
If the cartridge says it is an HP 67 (without the Instant Ink Ready) then it may be defective.
The cartridges do have a warranty, see the document here for information. To get warranty coverage you will need to go to the Contact HP page, then enter the serial number information for your printer.

Hi, thanks for your reply.... I've checked the cartridge and tried to explain clearly, there's not much wording on the label at all. There's nothing about Insta Ink or Setup H on the label or the box.
Yes, I purchased these at the same time when I purchased the printer, although the ink cartridges were sold by Amazon. I'll contact Amazon about it and hopefully get a replacement.
The cartridge in question is on the right in front of the box. Both say intended for single use. I'm hoping its just a defective cartridge. Thanks both of you for your help. I'll update if it all works out. 🖨😊

OK, neither of the cartridges shown are Instant Ink Ready cartridges, so the message is spurious. It may be possible to use the cartridge by cleaning the cartridge and printer electrical contacts as shown in the document here. I have highlighted the relevant section below:
The cartridges do have a warranty, see the document here for information. To get warranty coverage you will need to go to the Contact HP page, then enter the serial number information for your printer. In the comments section mention you need a replacement color cartridge, mention the warranty date on the cartridge and that you have verified the cartridge is at fault be replacing it with the old cartridge.
