HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

There is a supply system problem with the Cyan and Yellow cartridges. The cyan level was slightly above the midpoint line on the graph, and the yellow cartridge had already run out. I proceeded to replace both colors with new cartridges, but the printer did not detect them correctly—it indicated that they were already halfway out of ink.

Because of this, I performed a head maintenance procedure, and a new error appeared stating that the cartridges were out of ink. This is not possible, as they are brand-new, out-of-the-box cartridges.

I urgently need assistance. If someone from the HP team could contact me as soon as possible, I would greatly appreciate it, as I need to resolve this matter immediately.

@MotivateRD, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you are experiencing cartridge detection issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the problem:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges are compatible with your printer model and region. Using incorrect cartridges can cause communication errors. Confirm that the cartridge numbers match the ones specified for your printer and region.

Reset the Printer: Sometimes a simple reset can resolve detection issues. Power off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait about a minute, then plug it back in and power it on.

Inspect Cartridge Installation: Remove the cartridges and reinsert them. Make sure they are properly seated and that any protective plastic or tabs have been removed from the contacts.

Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. HP periodically releases firmware updates that can fix known issues. Check for updates through the printer menu or the HP Smart app.

Clean Electrical Contacts: Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and the printer carriage. Let them dry before reinserting the cartridges.

Perform Printhead Maintenance: If the printer suggests maintenance due to errors, follow the instructions provided on-screen or in the printer menu to clean or align the printheads.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
