I have a HP DeskJet 2652. The color ink has one bar and the black ink is half full. I haven’t used it in a while, and I would like to use it now but it won’t put ink paper. It makes sounds like it is printing, and the paper does go through the printer like it should, but it’s just not putting the ink on the paper. This is for both a color and the black inks. Would the problem be something other than older ink?

Hi @MD51117,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP DeskJet 2652 printer is making printing sounds but not depositing ink on the paper, there are a few potential issues to consider.
- Clogged Print Heads: When printers are left unused for a while, ink can dry and clog the print heads. This prevents ink from being properly applied to the paper.
- Low Ink Levels: Although your ink levels are not critically low, ink quality can degrade over time, especially if cartridges are not sealed properly or exposed to air.
- Incorrect Paper Settings: Sometimes, incorrect paper settings in the printer driver can cause issues with ink application. Ensure that the paper type selected matches the paper loaded in the printer.
- Printer Maintenance: Printers often require periodic maintenance, such as print head cleaning or alignment. These tasks can be performed through the printer's software or control panel.
Here’s what you can try.
- Clean the Print Heads: Use the printer's software to clean the print heads. This process can help remove dried ink and improve print quality.
- Check Ink Cartridges: Remove the ink cartridges and check if there's any residue or dried ink around the nozzles. Wipe them gently with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water if necessary.
- Replace Old Cartridges: If the cartridges are old or have been exposed to air for a long time, consider replacing them with new ones.
- Run a Print Quality Diagnostic: Most printers have a diagnostic tool that can help identify and resolve print quality issues. Run this diagnostic to see if it detects any problems with the ink delivery.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, there may be a more complex problem with the printer itself, such as a hardware malfunction or deeper ink system issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
