Hi @gwynnek,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've just installed brand new HP ink cartridges and the ink light is still flashing, there might be a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Check for Proper Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are correctly inserted into their respective slots. Sometimes, cartridges might not be fully seated, causing the printer to not recognize them properly.
Clean Contacts: Ink residue or debris on the cartridge contacts or printer contacts can interfere with communication. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer. Make sure they are completely dry before reinserting the cartridge.
Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor glitches. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a couple of minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with new cartridges.
Try Another Cartridge: While it's unlikely, there's always the possibility of receiving a defective cartridge. If possible, try installing a different cartridge to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
