HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer

During a large print job, my cartridge ran out. Instantly, there was none to replace it. I realized that as long as I am in the program, I was stuck until a cartridge arrived. I went online and canceled instant ink, went to Staples and got a cartridge, installed it, and it failed because the  cancelation didn't take effect. Now instant ink is sending me new cartridge, after I removed the HP printer and replaced with a xerox so I could finish my print job.  Of course there is no method to expedite as it is impossible to contact a human anymore. My last HP product.

Hello @FailedProgram, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how disruptive it was to run out of ink during an important print job and then be unable to resume printing immediately.

HP Instant Ink automatically monitors ink levels and ships replacements when the enrolled printer reports that supplies are running low. Shipment timing depends on the printer remaining connected to the internet and communicating current ink levels to HP. Shipment status and tracking information can be reviewed through the Instant Ink dashboard.

Please note that cancelling Instant Ink is not immediate. The subscription and Instant Ink cartridges generally remain active until the end of the current billing cycle. A store-bought cartridge should normally work once correctly installed, but an active printer or account error may need to be cleared first. Please let us know if there is any error so that we can assist you further.

Since you have already canceled Instant Ink and the replacement cartridge is now being shipped, I would not recommend continuing to install or purchase additional Instant Ink cartridges until the cancellation is confirmed on your account.
