This has happened twice with two of the same model number printers. Running windows XP off a laptop not connected to the internet.
Printer is not used very often. Printer will go through all the motions but may print at first. Then the next time, still going through the motions, not print, then continue not printing. We have tried rubbing the printer head on a wet paper towel. Ink immediately comes out onto the paper towel. Cartridge doesn't look clogged or anything. We aren't sure if the not printing is due to not using it enough. We are not sure if we can download a driver to a jump drive then installing it would even help? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
You can send a print job using a direct wireless connection between your printer and a Windows computer.
Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
In Windows, search for and open Printers and scanners.
Click Add a printer or scanner.
Click Show Wi-Fi Direct printers.
Select the option starting with DIRECT followed by your printer model.
Click Add device.
After the WPS PIN prompt displays on the computer, look for a PIN on the printer control panel or the information sheet that was printed during setup.
Enter the PIN within 90 seconds, and then click Next to complete the connection.
NOTE: If the PIN expires, restart your computer, and then go through the printer setup process again.
If a Driver is unavailable status message displays, go to 123.hp.com to download and install the print driver.
Open the item you want to print, click File, and then click Print.
Select your printer from the list, and then click Print.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
