My printer says it needs a new printhead. I'm not finding that part for my Inkjet Pro 8600. The part I found that it should use, does not list my printer as one that uses that part. I'm stumped and wondering if my printer is obsolete. I have had had it a long time. I'd appreciate any info anyone can give me. Thanks,
Dianna

That is a good question. What gave it away that your suspicion of your Inkjet Pro 8600 being obsolete to be correct is when I searched "Inkjet Pro 8600 Printhead" on eBay. And what I found was product description upon product description of "HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus All In One Inkjet Printer *BAD PRINTHEAD* [or: NO PRINTHEAD] Read Details - Parts Only": inkjet pro 8600 printhead: Search Result | eBay.
Printers don't last that long. My recommendation is that you would be better off buying a new replacement printer through Amazon or another online eCommerce business, or from an electronics retailer store such as Best Buy, or Office Depot/OfficeMax, based on what printer features work for you.
Hope this was helpful.

In my experience printers can last that long and sometimes even longer. printer needs new printhead? Printheads do dry out if not used for a long time. Printhead cleaning kits are available on ebay etc. and can sometimes revive a failing printhead.

No offense, but you're missing the point. The fact that dozens of Inkjet Pro 8600 printers are offered for sale with a missing or without a working printhead, should be sort of a clue.
