I also have the same problem. My printer is in an office environment and only one of the PCs on the network is printing with jagged lines on  a size A3 paper from any software application. Any help is much appreciated.

I think I have fixed it. You need to download the driver package found here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-7740-wide-format-all-in-one-printe...

HPSmart does not work for me so you need to use the installer package found under "Sotware Utility" (obviously :))

If you run this it should install the right printer driver. You can check by going to:

Control Panel>Devices and Printers>..right click on printer icon..>Properties>Advanced. Driver should show as:

HP Officejet Pro 7740 series PCL-3.

Hope this solves the problem. I still think it is very annoying that you have to go to these lengths to make it work....

Many thanks Jcw58.  Don't know how you found this but your solution also worked for me. 😊

I'm having the same problem, after replacing all the colour cartridges for the first time. Black is still the one that came with the printer, and is still at half capacity. It is printing in grey and with the jagged lines, in A3. In A4 everything is fine.
