Hello
My LaserJet CM6040 have some issues with the print quality and puts a lot of stripes on places where they don't belong. It is easiest to understand taking a look on the attached scans of a set of test pages that I printed out. Yellow and magenta look uninfected. Obviously blue/green color (page 1, 2, 3) is infected most, but also the grey page (5) shows stripes on the top. However black prints in front of infected colored areas seems to be ok too...
Does anybody recognize these kind of stripes from his printer and can tell me what that means...?
Thank you!

As it appears to affect on cyan, the cyan drum unit or toner would be the first thing to try.

Thank you for your input Repairatrooper. I checked the status, and the levels of cartridge and drum are at 37/45%, that means they are not empty at all. Is it still possible/thinkable that one or both of these units can cause the issue?

Most likely the drum unit. If other colors are unaffected that eliminates the transfer belt or the fuser and leaves only the laser assembly, the drum and the toner. The drum is the most likely cause. Unfortunately the rated life is only one factor in many that can affect drum performance and if they have never been changed they are at least 6 years old. The Grey in the sheets is composite color (all three colors) not black and that explains the presence of the defect there.

I would be less worried about toner, i would start with the drum unit. As a technician that is where I would start. Unlike all in one units that you can swap colors to see if the defect follows the cartridge, the 2 part drum/toner system and keyed drums makes that impossible, so unfortunately drum replacement is the first thing to try and most likely will resolve the issue.

Hello again. I now ordered a new cyan drum and hope it will solve the issue.
In the meanwhile I got observant to the test sheet of black/grey (attachment no.5 above) again. It doesn't look that terrible than the blue/green colors, but for me it is not 100% ok as well in view to the lighter stripes especially at the top part of that sheet.
What do you think, might it be necessary to buy a new drum for the black unit too?

Hi there
I think not. Printer mix cyan with black and look like black have also problem but in real not. Change Cyan first and you will see difference.
