older printer pulled from storage. New toner carts, new transfer drum kit, new paper. I am printing the color test page from the menu and the printer is not connected to a pc. I have done a default settings reset. The image seems to be correct on the transfer drum but is not getting attached to the paper for fusing. Note: both the old transfer drum and the new one do NOT have a smooth surface. It seems to be covered with finter print size dimples. Is that an aging issue? I did chase the rabbit from the service manual and half dissasembled the printer to inspect the "transfer Guide"...it was fine. Along these lines, should the transfer drum actually make contact with the paper as it passes over the transfer belt?

Not sure about the dimples on the transfer drum, it's been a while since I last time saw that printer model.
From the service manual: The paper is pressed against the transfer drum when the transfer belt press clutch (CL4) pushes the transfer belt up to the transfer drum. Positive DC bias is applied to the transfer belt to transfer the toner that is on the transfer drum surface to the paper.
So if the image on the transfer drum is correct then you might have secondary transfer issues. Assuming you installed the new transfer belt included with the imaging drum might be some bias issues or poor/dirty contact issues.
