I have a LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw. I am getting a dark toner deposit (which rubs off) on the right side of the page. I just replaced the toner and it is worse. Diagnostics notes the drummer does not yet need to be replaced. Also, running a cleaning page did not correct the issue. Please help.
Thank you.

Hi @Lynthiav,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing some print quality issues with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw. The dark toner deposit on the right side of the page could be caused by a few different factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check the Toner Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed. Sometimes, toner cartridges may not be seated correctly, leading to uneven toner distribution.
- Clean the Printer: Use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to gently wipe any excess toner or debris from inside the printer, particularly around the area where the toner cartridge sits. Be careful not to touch the drum or other sensitive parts.
- Check for Toner Spillage: Sometimes, toner spillage can occur inside the printer, leading to smudges or streaks on printed pages. Carefully inspect the interior of the printer for any spilled toner and clean it up if necessary.
- Run a Printer Cleaning Cycle: Your printer likely has a built-in cleaning function that can help remove excess toner and debris from the internal components.
- Inspect the Drum Unit: While the diagnostics may indicate that the drum doesn't need replacing yet, it's still worth inspecting the drum unit for any signs of damage or wear. If the drum is damaged or worn out, it may need to be replaced.
- Update Printer Firmware: Sometimes, printer firmware updates can resolve print quality issues. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer and install them if necessary.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the print quality issues with your HP LaserJet printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
