HP Laser 107w

Just unpacked the printer, did everything according to the instructions. Shook the cartridge, set the print quality to high. But the print quality is noticeably poor. Is it supposed to be like this? Or is there something wrong with the printer or settings?

Hi @Arturg-gns,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your Low print quality  HP Laser 107w. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Regarding the firmware update.

Following the steps described here https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16
1) I tried to update the firmware via HP SMART APP and couldn't log into my account. It says that my account does not exist, neither via email nor phone number.
2) Tried to update the firmware directly through the printer. But after selecting the firmware file, which I downloaded from the technical support site, it tells me that the firmware is invalid.
3) In the third point of the manual it is written about some HP Printer Update screen. I don't know what it is and where to find it.

4) In the downloaded folder with the firmware I found the manual, and there was described a way to update the firmware via usb. This way worked.
Now the firmware number is written in the printer properties. V3.82.01.17 AUG-11-2022. Although the website says V3.82.01.17 5.9 MB Jan 25, 2023.

It prints better now. But I don't know if it happened because of firmware update or not. Because even before the firmware update it used to print better sometimes.
The support site is very unfriendly.
