HP Smart Tank Pluss 655
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I Have a Smart Tank Plus 655. The black print head is faulty. HP have sent me a replacement print head. However, the printer does not acknowledge that the print head is faulty and is not moving the print heads to the centre of the printer to enable me to replace it. How do I force the printer to move the print heads to the centre of the printer?

HP Support had no idea how to resolve this. In the end I worked out that during the start up cycle the printer moves the print heads from left to right and back again - so I whipped out the power lead just as the print head reached the centre of the printer. I changed the print head and then plugged the lead back in. I got a warning message that the printer had been inappropriately turned off (Duh!) and then a message saying a new genuine HP printer head had been successfully installed. The problem is now resolved!
