Hello!  I recently purchased a new HP printer and opened a new instant ink account for it. Can I move the used instant ink cartridges from the old printer to the new printer?  Thanks, Tim

Hi @TK782,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The Instant Ink cartridges that come with your printer are tied to the specific printer's serial number, and they are intended for use with that particular printer. Moving the used Instant Ink cartridges from your old printer to the new printer might not work, as the cartridges are usually registered and associated with the original printer.

When you set up a new Instant Ink account for your new HP printer, the system will recognize the new printer's serial number and send the appropriate cartridges for that specific printer. If you try to use cartridges from a different printer, it's likely that the Instant Ink service will not recognize them, and your new printer may not function properly with those cartridges.

To ensure that your new printer works seamlessly with Instant Ink, it's recommended to use the cartridges that are provided specifically for that printer in the Instant Ink enrollment kit.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
