Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M182nw
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Does anyone know a fix for this... my Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M182nw won’t let me choose “Best” Quality on my iMac? The sliding bar will allow me to choose “Draft” or “Normal” but when I try to move it to “Best”, it slides back to normal? I read on another thread (by someone answering, claiming to work for HP) that the printer in question was not able to print “best quality”. It was a different model than mine but that doesn’t sound right...why would anyone buy an expensive laser Jet if it’s “best print” was worse than a “draft print” on a cheep printer???  if I just spent $400 on a printer that can’t print “best quality”, I will lose it! My POS $40 inkjet printer had no problem!

I’ve tried:

restarting both printer and computer

deleted and re-added the printer (reset)

tried from different apps

please someone tell me there’s a fix for this!

thanks!!

@Janee222, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

In few models of Laserjet printers, the print quality cannot be changed or is limited. To improve the print quality,

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

For more info on print settings, refer to - Print Settings Guide (Mac)

Use the AirPrint option to print from your Mac. You may also refer to - Fixing Poor Print Quality if the issue persists.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
