Hi @J_DD,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet 3630 says that the ink cartridge is incompatible, even though it's new, it could be due to a few common issues:

  • Incorrect Cartridge: Ensure that the ink cartridge is the correct type for your printer model. Verify the cartridge number matches the one specified for your HP DeskJet 3630.
  • Installation Issues: Double-check that the cartridge is installed properly. Remove it and reinsert it, making sure it clicks into place securely.
  • Protective Tape: New cartridges often come with a protective tape or plastic covering on the contacts. Make sure you have removed all the protective tape from the cartridge before installing it.
  • Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes the contacts on the cartridge or inside the printer can be dirty. Gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth.
  • Firmware Updates: Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes updates can resolve compatibility issues with cartridges. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Printer Reset: Perform a hard reset of the printer. Turn it off, unplug it for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Cartridge Expiration: Verify the expiration date on the cartridge. Although rare, it’s possible to receive a cartridge that’s expired or defective.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
