I just got my up deskjet 2855 printer this week and tried it out for the first time yesterday, and when I tired printing out, 1 piece of paper that’s already hook up to the system to print anyway printed. Then go to print something else my color light pop on and also said they can’t read the color cartridge I just got from this printer. When tried everything cleaning, turning off and turning back on every method y’all suggested in the tab.

@Jdub223, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP DeskJet 2855e printer is experiencing issues with the color cartridge not being recognized, here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the color cartridge you are using is compatible with your HP DeskJet 2855e printer. Verify the cartridge model number with the printer specifications.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the printer access door.
  • Remove the color cartridge and inspect it for any protective tape or packaging that may still be attached.
  • Reinsert the cartridge firmly into its slot.
  • Close the access door and plug in the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and see if the issue is resolved.

Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the color cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
  • Reinsert the cartridge and turn on the printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and wait for a few minutes.
  • Turn it back on and check if the error message persists.

Run a Diagnostic Test:

  • Access the printer’s control panel and navigate to the settings menu.
  • Look for a “Diagnostics” or “Test Print” option and run it to help identify any specific issues.

Update Printer Software:

  • Go to the HP Support Page and download and install any firmware updates available for your printer model.
  • Updating the software can resolve various compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.
