HP Smart Tank 515 Wireless All-in-One

My printer prints a weird orangish colour instead of gray. Pure black is fine , but the lighter it gets the more orange it becomes . As for blue , its more of a very pale pink . I didn't mix the ink cartidages or anything of the sort . Tell me is something wrong with the printers processor sot it thinks blue is pink ?

I should point out that when I bought it it didn't have this problem

Hi @AAanonms

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer is experiencing a color misalignment or incorrect color mixing. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check Ink Cartridges

Verify Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that all ink cartridges are correctly installed. Remove and reseat them to make sure they’re secure.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Make sure that the cartridges (especially the color cartridges) are not low or empty. Replace any low cartridges.

Step 2: Run a Printhead Cleaning

  1. Access Printer Settings:
    • Go to your printer's control panel or the software on your computer.
  2. Find Maintenance Options:
    • Look for maintenance options such as “Clean Printhead” or “Align Printhead.” Running these can help resolve color issues.

Step 3: Perform Color Calibration

Print a Calibration Page:

  • In the printer settings, look for an option to print a calibration or test page. This can help adjust the color output.

Follow Calibration Instructions:

  • If prompted, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the calibration process.

Step 4: Update or Reinstall Drivers

Update Drivers:

  • Go to the printer HP website and check for the latest drivers for your model. Install any updates.

Reinstall Drivers:

  • If updating doesn’t help, you can also try uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer drivers.

Step 5: Check Color Settings

Adjust Color Settings:

  • In your printer settings, check the color management settings. Ensure it is set to the correct color profile for your printer.

Try Different Print Modes:

  • Experiment with different print settings (e.g., draft mode vs. best quality) to see if there’s any change in color output.

Step 6: Reset Printer

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Factory Reset (if applicable):

  • Check the printer manual for instructions on performing a factory reset. This will reset all settings back to default.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
