HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer

I'm trying to set up an Officejet 4620 that I found in my deceased father's things. It was never used (still in plastic wrap), but the box had been opened and no setup cartridge was to be found. I didn't know what a setup cartridge was until I spent $70 buying and installing the ink cartridges only for it to read "install setup cartridge." I found out it was bought in 2012 when I looked up the serial number trying to solve this problem.  Internet searches say the device can't be used without this setup cartridge and this special cartridge isn't sold separately. I can't return the ink I just opened, and it would be a shame to discard a new printer solely because I can't locate a setup cartridge (nothing on Amazon or eBay). So, what now?

I understand you are receiving a "use setup cartridges" error.

 

We would have to perform an OOBE reset on the printer to bypass the error

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.

Hi, I’m having the same problem. 

I just bought new ink cartridges for this printer that’s never been used but can’t seem to get passed the “use setup cartridge” error.
