Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Model MFP M428fdw

Prints began to fade so I replaced the cartridge (58X), as I've done 3 times before. In the past, the next printed page was back to normal as expected. This time, however, the print is still faded terribly as if the cartridge hadn't been changed. After printing several pages with the same result, I went to Printer Maintenance menu > Print Quality Tools > Cleaning page.. twice. No luck.

Can you print supplies status page scan and post here?

That looks good to me. Can you point out where is faded, maybe due to scanning it's not visible.

If all we printed was the Supplies Status page, that might be acceptable. Most of what we print has a lot of graphics like this:

This was printed with the new toner. Same result I got before replacing it. Obviously, not acceptable.

HP Recommended

That doesn't look like a toner cartridge issue.

Ok, so what type of issue does it look like to you? What can you suggest that would help?

HP Recommended

Do you have that sample as a pdf file? If yes, save it on a USB flash, there is a USB port underneath the printer screen you can print directly from USB flash and try printing it that way.

Also, you can try to convert as image to a jpeg and print it the same way, to eliminate possible software related driver related issue.

This was printed from a PDF saved on PC. Are you asking me to move that PDF over to a USB drive and print it from there? How would that be any different from printing off the PC? If so, I just did that and got the same outcome.

I've also tried making a copy. Same thing.

Every file I print is the same result. Whether it's a Word document or a graphics file or a PDF,

The previous toner lasted as long as expected and started to fade, just like they always do when it's time to replace.

One thing I noticed was this one, which arrived in a sealed HP box, did not have the cartridge sealing tape that I remember removing from other replacements. Do they still do that?

HP Recommended

The sealing tape should be with new toner. Chances that you have 2 different toners with the same issues are close to 0.
