HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn

I have replaced my cartridges to my HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn. Cyan cartridge keeps coming up as empty, preventing printing, even though it is full. I have taken out and replaced several times, and changed settings, but it is still not working. Extremely frustrating, printer was out of warranty as of 10/22.

Hi @AustinLib,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have replaced the cyan cartridge in your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn and it keeps showing up as empty, there are a few things you can try.

  • Check the cartridge: Make sure the cartridge is properly inserted into the printer and that the protective tape has been removed from the contacts on the cartridge. You can also try cleaning the contacts on the cartridge with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure that there is no debris or residue interfering with the communication between the cartridge and the printer.
  • Restart the printer: Sometimes simply restarting the printer can help it recognize the new cartridge. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it back on.
  • Reset the printer: You can try resetting the printer to clear any errors or issues. To do this, turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Release the button, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.
  • Update the printer firmware: Updating the printer firmware to the latest version may help resolve the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have tried all of these solutions and none have helped. I believe the cyan cartridge is defective. I put the nearly empty starter cartridge back in and it works fine. These cartridges are not cheap, so this is extremely frustrating!
