Just to confirm, were you able to remove the orange protective cap from the printhead carriage, or are you still experiencing the issue?
 

If not, please try following the steps shown in this official HP video, which demonstrates how to remove the orange cap during printer setup: (4) Replace a printhead | HP Smart Tank 500 and 600 printer series | HP Support - YouTube
 

Please take a look and let me know if the steps in the video help. If you're still unable to remove the cap, reply with the exact printer model and any details about what happens when you try, and I'll be happy to provide further assistance.
