HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 All-in-One Printer

I have a HP Office Jet Pro 8710. I replaced the black ink cartridge with a new one, the exact same HP 952XL cartridge that I've always used  (second one in two-pack) but I received the following message:

"The indicated cartridge is an older generation cartridge that does not work in your printer. It can still be used with some older printer models.

I'm unable to print. Please send me a solution.

Just wondering if any HP rep will reply!! I was using one of a two-pack of 952XL (HP BRAND OEM) just fine and when I went to install the second one, I get the Older Generation Cartridge message. I understand from my reading that this is due to a firmware upgrade, but I AM NOT HAPPY to waste a perfectly good $50 HP cartridge! I am not that rich! Please send instructions on how to fix.
