Hi @Thataxeman50,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your OfficeJet Pro 8710 isn’t printing on paper even after replacing the printhead. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Check ink levels and cartridge seating
Make sure all cartridges show adequate ink.
Remove each cartridge and reinstall firmly until it clicks.
Remove the printhead and reinstall it
Power off the printer and unplug it, then remove and reseat the printhead.
Ensure it locks properly before closing the carriage latch.
Run “Print Quality Report” (even if prints are blank)
On the panel: Setup (gear icon) > Printer Maintenance > Print Quality Report.
If the page ejects blank, it helps confirm ink is not flowing or blocked.
Disable “Use Black Ink Only” or similar mode
From the device you’re printing from, check the print settings.
Ensure it is set to “Color” or “Normal” mode, not draft or grayscale only.
Perform the “Clean Printhead” option from the printer menu
Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
Run this up to 3 times, letting the printer rest 5 minutes between cycles.
Check for protective tape or air block in cartridges
Remove each cartridge to confirm no plastic tape remains on the ink nozzles.
If a cartridge is new, gently tap it and reinstall to release trapped air.
Try printing a simple internal diagnostic page
Use: Setup > Reports > Printer Status Report.
If internal pages are blank, the issue is inside the printer, not the PC.
Verify paper type and print settings match
On the printer: Paper Setup > choose Plain Paper and correct size.
Incorrect paper type settings can cause the printer to process without laying ink.
I hope this helps.
