HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

HP 8610 won't scan because of dynamic security.  But  an advice memo  in HP Support says there is a firmware fix for this specific model printer.  When I click the link the firmware is not found.  How do I remove the dynamic security feature on an Officejet 8610?

Hi @nfr21

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8610 is encountering issues with dynamic security and you’re unable to scan, it usually means the printer has detected that it’s using non-HP cartridges. While there isn’t a way to disable the dynamic security feature if it's already been activated by the printer, you can follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • The easiest way to address dynamic security is to ensure that you’re using genuine HP cartridges. If your printer has detected third-party or refilled cartridges, it may restrict certain functionalities.

Check for Firmware Updates:

Even if the link you tried didn’t work, check the official HP website for the latest firmware for your printer model. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve dynamic security issues.

Visit the HP Support page, enter your printer model, and look for firmware downloads.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a hard reset of the printer. Turn it off, unplug it from the power source, wait about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Reinstall the Printer Software:

  • Uninstall and then reinstall the printer software on your computer. This can sometimes help reset any settings related to security.

Use HP Smart App:

  • If you haven’t done so already, try using the HP Smart app to manage your printer. It may provide additional settings or updates that can help resolve the scanning issue.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
